Virgil Reality guest speaker at Artists“ Salon

Posted on Mar 02, 2009 - 12:32 PM

Virgil Reality appeared as guest speaker at Artists’ Salon regular monthly forum on Arts Marketing and Creativity in the Sydney Art Community held at the ArtHouse Hotel. The topic of the presentation was Social Media as a Marketing Tool with a particular focus on Arts Marketing.

The talk covered the features and functions of various Social Media platforms and leveraging those platforms with content to increase attendance and collaboration at events. Platforms discusses were Facebook, YouTube, MySpace, Flikr and Twitter. Rather than in depth developer information the talk discussed how content based businesses such as the arts could leverage the power of these platforms as an extremely low cost marketing tool. This really covered two very important issues for any business, finding customers and collaborating with suppliers to fulfill orders (in this case filled seats or venues).

The elements of the talk were.

  • Setting up Social Networking Channels for marketing with focus on Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace, YouTube and Flikr.
  • Using Public Relations and Collaboration.
  • Integrating content such as Audio and Video.
  • Creating online artwork and graphics for Social Media profiles
  • Creating Submissions for Funding

The talk was a lot of fun to present in a great forum and part of Relativity Communications’ involvement in using the Social Media that we talk about with our clients.
